Billy Elliot

Billy Elliot the Musical is based on the film of the same name from the year 2000. The film set attendance records worldwide with its strong story and was nominated for 3 Oscars and 13 Bafta awards. The musical was shown for the first time at London’s West End in 2005. The music is by Elton John, lyrics by Lee Hall, and original direction by London-based director Steven Dalry. The rights to Billy Elliot have just become available outside of West End and Broadway. Therefore, there are now 4 different theater houses in Scandinavia that will stage this successful musical. Norway is the very first to premiere at Folketeateret in Oslo on September 18, 2014.
